Summary: Cordelia and her siblings live in the forest with their powerful sorceress mother but things get complicated when Cordelia wants answers and enemies want to put them on the throne to exploit.
Likes: I love the focus on family and how different they can be. The siblings genuinely cared about each other and found each other’s flaws annoying. Their loyalty and bickering is realistic. I also like the emphasis on connecting with the land and people being integral to being a good ruler.
Dislikes: The level of secret-keeping was ridiculous. It was not practical. Apparently their mother had immenselly unrealistic expectations and it put everyone in danger. It’s also awkward because it is meant to keep the reader in the dark about what will happen.
Overall I liked this but not as much as the dragon series.
