Cemetery Boys
by Aiden Thomas
Swoon Reads, 2020
YA Contemporary Supernatural
Summary: Yadriel wants to prove his real gender to his Latinx family and he accidentally summons a spirit he then can’t get rid of.
Likes: I found Yadriel’s interactions with his friends and Julian to be the most fun. There was a lot of deep and important stuff discussed plus humor. This is also where personalities shined. I also loved the prep and food involved in the celebrations of the holiday. It brought the layers of the reasons for traditions in this world.
Dislikes: Sometimes the developing romance overshadowed the serious stuff they were trying to solve. I also knew the villain as soon as the character’s details were introduced.
Overall I want to read more from this author. This was amazing to read in October.
