I read a section of From Here to Eternity by Caitlin Doughty about Mexico. The 2016 Bond movie, Spectre, inspired Mexico City to have a Días de los Muertos parade as extravagant as in the film (77). The whole section was interesting, highlighting the complex history of celebrating various aspects in various places in Mexico and Doughty tied it to the personal experiences of her friend and Frida Kahlo which added even more depth to the discussion. It’s as complicated as the history of Mexico in general.
