The Heroic Legend of Arslan, Vol. 2

story by Yoshiki Tanaka

manga by Hiromu Arakawa

Kodansha Comics, 2014

9 cups of tea out of 11

Summary: Arslan and friends are trying to persuade Narsus to join them while the capital, Ecbatana, is being attacked by the Lusitanians.

Likes: Yay, my favorite character Gieve is here! Also, Narsus is hard not to love. He’s very clever and he has so much enthusiasm for the court position Arslan wants to give him eventually. I also love that Arslan wants to step up for the people with him. Also, there’s a complexity to the battle for Ecbatana. There is systemic stuff wrong.

Dislikes: The leadership of Lusitania.

Overall I laughed a lot during this volume but it also made me think. It’s complicated but not in an incomprehensible way.
