Summary: Aru lights the lamp keeping the Sleeper trapped. As a reincarnated hero she has a responsibility to save the world. Aru has to find her other siblings and weapons with the help of a talking pigeon named Boo.
Likes: I liked Aru, Boo, and Mini a lot. They were funny and proactive protagonists. All the fantasy elements were super fun because they are coming from Indian folklore. We got to see gods, demons, and pieces of myth. It was amazing.
Dislikes: The time in the land of the dead did start to drag a little.
Overall I was hesitant to read this one because I’d started both of Chokshi’s YA fantasy series and hadn’t liked the execution. I also didn’t love Percy Jackson. But I’m glad I gave this a try because I enjoyed it. I’m not in a rush to continue the series but I definitely want to.
