These three are for kids (and everyone else). They are great for October because they are spooky but they aren’t necessarily scary.
I Love You More Than the Smell of Swamp Gas by Kevan Atteberry is a spooky take on books about familial love.
Boris and Bella written by Carolyn Crimi, illustrated by Gris Grimly is a spooky take on being friends with someone even though they are the opposite of you.
Castle Hangnail by Ursula Vernon is a middle grade standalone about a girl who isn’t a powerful witch but Castle Hangnail’s inhabitants need someone to help them save their home (I also recommend Vernon’s Hamster Princess series and Dragonbreath series too.)
