Space Boy, Vol. 1

by Stephen McCranie

Dark Horse Books, 2018

YA Science Fiction Graphic Novel

8 cups of tea out of 11

Summary: When Amy’s dad loses his job, their family must move from the mining colony in deep space to Earth. It’s a 30 year journey they complete while in a state of suspended animation. When Amy wakes up she feels out of place.

Likes: I loved the art, I found Amy to be a sympathetic character, and the world of future Earth to be interesting.

Dislikes: There was very little interaction between Amy and the “space boy.”

Overall I’m not sure where this is going which is pretty exciting because I don’t know what to expect. But it also doesn’t feel like we’ve been introduced to an overarching conflict yet. But we’ll see because I do really want to read the next volume.
