Defy the Stars
First in the series

Little, Brown and Company; 2017
YA Science Fiction, Adventure, Romance

Summary: Noemi is a pilot for Genesis, determined to protect her world. Abel is a mech with advanced programming, which becomes even more complex because he’s abandoned for thirty years. They meet as enemies but become reluctant allies on an adventure that takes them to different planets and forces them to rethink everything.
Likes: I love the enemies to lovers trope and how it plays out in this book. The romance isn’t the focus.
Dislikes: I’m not sure I’d reread this because part of why I found it compelling is not knowing what’s going to happen.
Overall I’m debating about reading the sequel right away because while I want to know what happens I also don’t want to finish the series right away. I don’t want to say goodbye to these characters.
Content: Violence – Mild, battles and some bloody messes
