The Witching Hour by Anne Rice
I mostly enjoyed this one because of the historical aspect. We see multiple periods of New Orleans and Europe. I couldn’t get into the second one in this series but I really liked this first one.
We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson
I read this for the first time earlier this year and it was fabulous. Very atmospheric and creepy plus it’s about two sisters trying to take care of each other.
Dark Dance by Tanith Lee
I laughed a lot through this one, I also laughed while trying to tell people about the plot. It’s a very dark plot and I may have been desensitized by the end. There are gothic elements (imprisonment, incest) as well. Mostly this is about a woman who has been kept away from her father’s side of the family until her mother dies. Then she’s invited to their house to live with them and get to know them.
Yay women horror authors. Love that second cover.

Nice reviews! Currently listening to We Have Always Lived in the Castle on audio, but I like it so much that I might have to find a print copy as well.
