I hesitate to recommend giant books because they are intimidating but I really liked these anthologies. Two of the three are huge but that means you have something short and spooky to read every day in October!
The Vampire Archives has a good selection of different authors and time periods. In particular it has one of my favorite Tanith Lee stories.
The Weird also has a good selection, Ann and Jeff VanderMeer are two speculative fiction editors who do a good job of presenting well-known authors and not as known authors.
Home Improvement: Undead Edition focuses on urban fantasy authors and stories. There are a couple other collections like this but this was the first one I read in the series.
