October Begins!
After celebrating my birthday over the weekend (and most of last week), Halloween season has begun. The Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack is on repeat, decorations are going up. I’ve sung the “Monster Mash” once already today…
And I’ve decided to kick October off with one of my favorite usually scary, usually supernatural monsters: the vampire! Mwa ha ha!
The first three novels of the Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice are the best. The rest feel like a rehashing of the events of these three.
Companions of the Night by Vivian Vande Velde is one of my favorites I want to reread. This one is quick and interesting, mostly because of the vampire. He’s not nice and I kind of adore him for that.
Strange Practice by Vivian Shaw is my most recent read on this list, I read it last year in October. The concept sounded really interesting to me, a doctor specifically for the supernatural, and I thought the whole thing was carried off well. I’m hoping to read the sequel this month.
Let me know if you have vampire books you’d like to recommend in the comments below!
Wife is reading Anno Dracula by Kim Newman. I also gave her Interview with a Vamp as a birthday present. There is also a weird but awsome vampire book called The Golden, but cant remember the authors name
